Leah Sharibu – 1461 days of captivity

Show: true / size: 1 / Country: Nigeria / Nigeria isvisible: true
February 19 will mark four years of captivity for Leah Sharibu, the young Christian girls who refused to deny Christ in the face of death. She was taken on Feb 19, 2018, along with over 100 other students from the Government Girls Science and Technical College in Dapchi, Yobe State, Nigeria. While her captors, the Islamic State of West Africa (a splinter of Islamic militant Boko Haram), released her fellow students within a month, Leah was kept because she refused to convert to Islam. On May 14th as she turns a mere 19, it will be her 5th birthday in captivity.

Encourage Leah's parents as they wait for her return

Prayer points

  1. Please thank the Lord for Leah Sharibu’s remarkable testimony. Pray that He will continue to use it mightily for His purposes and His glory toward her captors and her fellow captives, but also towards the outside world.

  2. Please pray that Leah will experience the Lord’s sustaining grace through his provision in all her physical needs.

  3. Pray that the Lord will sustain Leah’s spirit, give her courage and peace that surpasses all understanding. Pray that the Spirit will make her aware of the many prayers being spoken on her behalf, and that she will know she is never forgotten and never alone.

  4. Please pray for the Lord’s sustaining grace to Leah’s family. Thank Him for sustaining them so far and fill them with the assurance that His grace will be sufficient to them every day. Pray that they will be protected against despondency and have the grace to continue placing their trust in Jesus, even on the days it takes their every effort.

  5. Please pray that the government will step up all efforts to ensure Leah’s freedom. Pray for wisdom and a breakthrough in the negotiations.

  6. Please pray for the Lord to soften the hearts of Leah’s captors so that they will be filled with compassion for her and allow her release. Until He does that, pray that the Lord will use Leah’s example as a testimony to the excellence and beauty of Christ towards her captors.

  7. Pray for the many thousands of others who are in captivity whose names are not known. Pray that the Lord will show them His mercy in salvation and that they would find freedom soon. Pray that He would provide in their physical needs.
