Praise God that justice has prevailed in Malaysia, with Susanna Koh winning her lawsuit against the state over the disappearance of her husband, Pastor Raymond Koh.

According to the High Court in Kuala Lumpur, one or more police officials were involved in the abduction, misusing their power and acting “oppressively and arbitrarily.”

The court has ordered the Malaysian government to pay the family RM10,000 (about US $2,400) per day from the day the pastor was taken until he is found. The amount currently totals RM31 million (over US$7.4 million). Just under RM4.3 million (more than US $1 million) is to be awarded in other damages and costs.

The judge also ordered the police to reopen their investigation into the case and provide reports to the Attorney General on their progress every two months.

“Today marks an historic and emotional milestone for the Koh family, our legal team civil society and all Malaysians who have stood with us in the pursuit of truth and justice,” said Susanna after the verdict was given.

Watch Susanna Koh share after the verdict:
“The High Court has delivered the judgement on what we have long believed, that Pastor Raymond Koh was a victim of a grave injustice,” Susanna continued. “After nearly nine years’ loss of a husband and father, anguish and uncertainty, the judgement brings a long-awaited decision.”

Susanna also expressed gratitude for people who stood by her and Pastor Raymond’s family during the proceedings. “Thank God for well-meaning citizens who came alongside us in pursuit of truth and told us to use the legal means to secure the release of Pastor Raymond Koh,” she said. “We filed an action in the High Court and prayed to God that justice and the truth will prevail somehow, despite the overwhelming odds and circumstances. We were acutely aware of the risks to our family and our lawyers who are conducting this case, but believe in God’s protection and the prayers from all the people who believe in our cause.

We are overjoyed and thankful to God that we have an honest and fair judgement, after all the evidence that could possibly be brought to the attention of the judge.”

Thank you so much for your prayers for Susanna and the family in their pain over Raymond’s disappearance and their long search for answers and justice. Please continue to keep them in your prayers.
